Last Thursday, 22 February 2024, we had the Chinese New Year Celebration. All of the classes had to give performances in front of the stage, and it was the first time they opened LIVE Streaming on YouTube so that the parents could watch their kids perform and rewatch it again. Before the performance started, our teacher had an opening prayer and a short speech from our principal. CS1 class performed a drama about the history of the Great Wall. CS2 class performed a fan dance; CS3, which is my class, acted in a drama about Mulan; CS4 danced the Chinese 12 zodiac, and they gave us candy and chocolate coins as well at the end. JC1 performed a drama about the dragon and danced. Last but not least, JC2 performed a polearm dance. There was also a medley dance performed by the CCA dance students, which was very cool.
I felt very nervous when it was my class's turn to perform, but thank God we did well. All of the teachers were proud of us for our performance. My favourite performance was JC1 because it's like they perform a combination of all the classes: drama, fan dance, and single dance! After all the classes had been accomplished, it was time for the “Barongsai” to perform! We also give “Angpao” to the “Barongsai”. After the performance, we had a closing prayer, and the school provided lunch for all of us. The food was delicious. Sadly, this year's Chinese New Year celebration was our last celebration in SHB 1 because we will move to a new building next year. This day was enjoyable!! I can't wait for the following events!
