THE FUN AND JOY OF PRIMARY SCHOOL OF HARAPAN BANGSA MODERNHILL PARTICIPATING IN CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES AT PELITA DESA

On Thursday, November 14, 2024, the students of Primary School Harapan Bangsa Modernhill carried out a Character Development Activity at Pelita Desa, Ciseeng, Bogor. This activity involved all students from grades 1-6 and aimed to build courage, confidence, teamwork, responsibility, and to develop their character while gaining hands-on experiences from their surroundings. The field trip was divided into two activity packages: Edu Activity Package 1 for grades 1-3 and Edu Activity Package 2 for grades 4-6, each tailored to the students' age and abilities.

The grades 1-3 students enthusiastically participated in all activities guided by facilitators from Pelita Desa and accompanied by their teachers. The activities included fun games testing teamwork and cooperation, such as tug-of-war, crossing a wobbly bridge, riding a raft, planting rice, winnowing rice, and milking cows. These activities were not only entertaining but also educational, fostering the spirit of togetherness. In addition, the students had the opportunity to unleash their creativity by crafting clay works using provided molds, resulting in simple art pieces that nurtured their creativity.

The most anticipated activity was the flying fox, offering a challenge to test their courage while providing an unforgettable thrill. The students' excitement peaked during the fish-catching competition in a pond, adding energy and joy to their edutrip experience. Through these activities, the grades 1-3 students also learned essential values, such as teamwork in which they can apply in daily life.

The grades 4-6 students enjoyed equally exciting activities. They participated in challenges testing their bravery and dexterity, such as flying fox, crossing wobbly bridge, and archery. Each activity provided new experiences that enhanced their motor and mental skills. In addition to that, they gained valuable knowledge by visiting a tofu factory, learning the tofu production process, and understanding its benefits in daily life.

The students were also introduced to various types of plants with extraordinary benefits, learned about the process of making traditional herbal medicine (jamu), and explored the art of batik-making, broadening their understanding of local culture. The excitement of Edu 2 concluded with a game to build the tallest tower using boxes in a pool. This activity added fun and a sense of competition among the students. Every activity was not only enjoyable but also broadened their horizons, developed their skills, and taught the importance of teamwork and cooperation.

In conclusion, the field trip to Pelita Desa was not just a memorable learning experience but also a reminder of the importance of having a strong character and caring for others and the environment. This activity is expected to nurture a young generation that is not only academically smart but also empathetic, creative, and highly responsible toward society and the environment.
