Teacher’s Day Celebration at Sekolah Harapan Bangsa: A Moment of Appreciation

This report outlines the implementation of the Teacher’s Day Celebration held at Sekolah Harapan Bangsa for Junior High School (JHS) and Senior High School (SHS) students. The event was designed to recognize and appreciate the dedication and contribution of teachers in supporting students’ academic development and character formation.

The Teacher’s Day Celebration consisted of a series of appreciation activities, including classroom performances, speeches, interactive games, a “Teachers’ Got Talent” session, gift distribution, and a communal dining session. These activities were planned to promote student participation, foster gratitude, and strengthen school unity. The program was executed in accordance with the official activity proposal, with a full rundown guiding the flow of events.

The celebration involved a total of 199 students from Grades 7 to 12, along with all teachers of the JHS and SHS units. The activity was coordinated by Mrs. Tiarma Mega Yolanda as the Person in Charge (PIC), with support from advisors, the treasurer, equipment and documentation teams, and both the JHS and SHS Student Councils. School leaders, including the JHS Principal, SHS Principal, and the Head of School, were also present and contributed to the formal proceedings.

The event took place on Monday, 1 December 2025, beginning at 07.10 and concluding at 12.10. The scheduling coincided with the period immediately following semester examinations, providing a timely opportunity for reflection and celebration after the academic assessment phase.

All activities were conducted within the Sekolah Harapan Bangsa building, utilizing designated classrooms and communal spaces for performances, dining, and group activities. The venue arrangement supported smooth transitions between segments of the program, ensuring an organized and conducive environment for both formal and informal interactions.

The primary purpose of the Teacher’s Day Celebration was to acknowledge teachers’ important role in educating and guiding students. The event aimed to:

• Strengthen the relationship between students and teachers,
• Encourage expressions of gratitude and respect,
• Provide a memorable and positive school experience, and
• Support character-building values such as appreciation, responsibility, and unity.

By honoring teachers, the school reinforces its mission of nurturing academic excellence, faith, and character—core principles aligned with the institution’s vision and educational objectives.

The program followed a structured rundown, beginning with an opening ceremony that included welcoming remarks, an opening prayer, and an address from the principal. Students from various grade levels then presented creative performances such as songs, dramas, and videos. Interactive activities—including quizzes and teacher-led performances—further enhanced engagement.

A formal appreciation segment was conducted for distributing gifts to teachers, followed by a photo session involving all participants. The event concluded with a dine-together session in which each class shared a meal with their homeroom teacher and partner teachers. A final cleanup session completed the activity.
