Junior College 2 (JC 2) received their GCE International grades for Advanced Subsidiary (AS) Level grades this month from Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) in the UK. Nine (9) students were so happy to receive their grades from Cambridge. These students are now in JC 2 and have started doing their university application online using their AS grades as part of the major requirement for university application.
To recall, it was on March 23, 2020 when Cambridge took the difficult decision not to run the international examinations in the May/June 2020 series in any country. It included Cambridge IGCSE, Cambridge O Level, Cambridge International AS & A Level and Cambridge Pre-U. In addition, the Cambridge Checkpoint test series in May 2020 did not take place.
To quote Mr. Ben Schmidt, Asia-Pacific Cambridge Manager he wrote to the parents of Cambridge Learners in the region, “ We appreciate the serious concern caused by Covid-19 (coronavirus), and the impact it may be having on you and your family. I want to assure you that our priority is to protect the safety and wellbeing of everyone in our school communities. It is also important that we ensure fairness for your children and that we support them in continuing with their education. The situation is changing rapidly. Many countries have extended school closures into May and June, making it impossible for many of our schools to hold examinations.”
Cambridge recognized that students all over the world have been studying very hard for these examinations and how important it is that they receive the grades they deserve to progress to their next stage of learning. Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) worked with schools worldwide, offered a range of options to make sure the grades earned by all students represented their achievement using the best available evidence.
Since covid-19 situation in Indonesia has never become better, SHB-Cambridge has accepted the option offered by Cambridge to schools world wide. Our students have enrolled in their dream universities in the UK, Australia, South Korea, China, Canada, Taiwan, Singapore and few local universities.
On the given dates in August 2020 Cambridge issued grades and a certificate from Cambridge International for all qualifications which were welcomed with open hearts by our SHB Cambridge CS4, JC 1 and JC 2.
Registration for June 2022 series will start next week on February 10, 2022 with Ms. Silvana’s office. Letters and registration forms have been sent this January to all parents and students who will take IGCSE, GCE-AS level and GCE-A level soon.
