Hello, young learners of Sekolah Harapan Bangsa! This month, we're going
to explore some super important building blocks of the English language called
Parts of Speech. Just like how you use different types of LEGO bricks to build
amazing creations, we use various “parts” of words to build sentences! We have
nouns (which are words for people, places, animals, or things, like “teacher” or
“school”), verbs (which are action words, like “run” or “play”), and adjectives
(which describe nouns, like “happy” or “big”). Learning about these will help you
understand how sentences work and make your writing and speaking even
better!
Understanding parts of speech is like having a secret code to unlock how
English works. When you know if a word is a noun, a verb, or an adjective, it
helps you put sentences together correctly and understand what you're reading.
For example, if you see the word “jump,” you know it's something you do (a
verb!). If you see “flower,” you know it's a thing (a noun!). And if you see
“beautiful,” you know it's describing something (an adjective!). Keep an eye out
for these special word types in your books and conversations, and you'll become
a true English detective!
