Together We Probe Bandung 2019

On 12 – 15 November 2019, SMP Harapan Bangsa Modernhill held an edu trip called “Together we probe Bandung”. This event was attended by all students from grade 7 to grade 9.

By using 3 buses with a capacity of 44 seats for each, all students left for Bandung. Upon arrival, the group immediately visited the Puspa Iptek Sundial Science and Technology Center to learn about various science experiments and play “treasure hunts”. After that the group checked in to the hotel and proceeded to Saung Angklung Mang Udjo. The first day is ended with the first science activity at the hotel. At Saung Angklung Mang Udjo, students seemed to really enjoy how to tie and play angklung. Interestingly, they can bring home the angklung that they played.

The second day, 13 November 2019, the group left for the Geology Museum and Gedung Sate Museum. Besides exploring the museum and getting an explanation of the history of the city of Bandung, students also tried augmented reality and some interesting facilities at Gedung Sate Museum. Then the group did lunch at “Jendela Alam” and did some projects there. There are 4 projects carried out at “Jendela Alam”, making salted eggs, grass jelly, biogas and yogurt. Students can also enjoy the yogurt they make and bring home their salted eggs. The second day was closed with a visit to Bandung China Town. In this venue, children can enjoy the sensation of artificial snow, take part in interesting photo spots and record the names of shops or place instructions in Mandarin.

The third day, 14 November 2019, the activity began with a visit to the KAA museum. Some students got souvenirs and books because they could answer questions from the guide in the question and answer session. The journey continued to Trans Studio Bandung. In this venue, children learnt multimedia about how to advertise something and enjoyed a variety of rides in the Trans Studio. The third day's activities ended with shopping for snacks at Kartika Sari.

Finally the fourth day arrived. In the morning the students are given the freedom to enjoy the hotel facilities such as fitness centre and swimming pool before heading to the “Kawah Putih”. The trip to the “Kawah Putih” took more less 2 hours. There students could enjoy the natural beauty of the “Kawah Putih” and continue to enjoy lunch at Happy Farm Ciwidey. The students also took the time to take some pictures at interesting spots in that place. We left Ciwidey for Jakarta at 13.45. There were several points of traffic jam before Cikampek that occurred. By sharing the latest location, parents were always updated on the position of our bus so they could pick up their children on time.

This four day trip in Bandung is expected to bring a fresh atmosphere to students in learning, and see that learning can be done anywhere. With this event, students are expected to practice to be more independent and responsible.
