Christmas is always a special time for Christians and Catholics, as well as for all of humanity to share joy with loved ones, families and everyone.
This year has been and continues to be an extraordinary year in all respects, where we together we face an unusual situation as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, which affects all of our activities, including teaching and learning activities as well as Christmas celebrations taking place online.
Through this year’s Christmas celebration, we were invited to remember people who have previously faced this difficult situation, we first asked to be grateful for our health, and to share our gratitude with the people close to us, always be grateful for the best circumstances of today’s challenging situations, and to put hope in “Immanuel”.
This year’s Sekolah Harapan Bangsa Primary Christmas Celebration had the theme “Immanuel: God is with Us” and was held on Thursday, December 10, 2020. This year’s celebration was also divided into 2 sessions. The first session was from 8.15 to 9.15, for Grade 1 and Grade 2 students, simultaneously (parallel) with students from Sekolah Harapan Bangsa Preschool. Meanwhile, session 2 was held at 9.30 to 11.00 for Grade 3 to Grade 6 students. All teachers and employees were also invited to attend and participate in this celebration.
The Christmas devotional was delivered by Sr. Yohana Manik and Sr. Sri Agustina from KSSY (Congregation of Sisters of Saint Joseph) and they reminded the students to continue to be good children and continue to do good for everyone as a form of gratitude and joy for Christmas despite the current pandemic situation. Sekolah Harapan Bangsa also embodies this feeling of joy and gratitude by sharing it with the children of the Graha Murni Luhur Dormitory who accompanied by nuns who helped give reflections.
In the Christmas celebration, the students also did activities together as an expression of their joy, namely making Christmas cards for Christians and Catholics. For those of other faiths, they also made cards containing expressions of gratitude for whatever has been received in their life.
