Preparations for Book Days 2022 began on October 18, elementary students were challenged to submit photos with the theme “Book Face Challenge” where students looked for books with attractive covers or that matched their faces, then took photos with the cover partially covering or the whole face of the student with the right and attractive position. The enthusiasm of the students is very good and eager to send photos to the link drive that has been provided. Lots of very funny and interesting photos to look at
Kindergarten, elementary school, grades 1 & 2 students gathered in the hall of SHB 5. The hall has a red carpet and a backdrop with contrasting and interesting book pictures as the background. Ms Indah and the team have also decorated the stage with trees made of colored paper and added a fence so that the stage looks more attractive like a fairy tale. Ms. Linda as MC invited the children to sing with enthusiasm and enthusiasm. Ms. Linda also made a warm welcome for the students several times, adding to the liveliness of the event. Before the event continued, an opening prayer was performed by Ms. Ingrid. After that, the students received a warm welcome from the Principal, Ms. Thedora marks the official opening of Book Days.
The MC greeted the students that today there was a special guest who would bring a fairy tale, then the MC introduced and invited Kak Budi to appear on stage. Kak Budi is a storyteller who enjoys the world of children. Kak Budi has been a storyteller since 2009. Kak Budi has the ability to entertain children with dolls and adjust the voice according to the character of the doll he uses. To the students of kindergarten, elementary school grades 1 & 2, Kak Budi brought a story about “Rocky penguin is kind”. The next program visited the book bazaar. On this occasion, one of the parents of a kindergarten student was invited to tell a story in class.
That day the students were doing an Indonesian language competition. Kindergarten students compose poems through words and pictures guided by Ms. Wiwin. Elementary school students in grade 1 will listened to stories from the teacher with materials that have been prepared by Mr. Yudha, then the students cut and pasted the title of the story, the characters in the story, the plot of the story. Class 2 students write and draw the characters in the story, the setting of the story and what they learn from the story.
Elementary school students 3 & 4 gathered in the SHB 4 hall where the stage and backdrop were already installed. The activity began with an opening prayer and welcome from the principal. Then Mr. Alex as the PIC of the event to introduce and invite Kak Rizka to come on stage. Kak Rizka shared her personal experience, that she had started writing books since elementary school in 5th grade, how to put everyday events into writing. Kak Rizka also advised that one action will produce results from 1001 ideas that have not been worked on. Closing Kak Rizka also opened a question and answer session to the students guided by Ms. Melda. The students were very enthusiastic about asking, starting from “the idea of writing the first book?”, “how to become a famous writer?”, “how many books have you written?” and many things。
Elementary school students grade 3 & 4 returned to the classroom. They conducted an Indonesian competition led by Ms. Melda. Students read fairy tales about fables, then rewrite them on the sheet provided. Then the writings will be combined to form a small book. After that they visit the book bazaar and buy books that interest them to read.
Elementary school students in grades 5 & 6 gathered in the SHB 4 hall. The event was opened with a prayer and welcome from the school principal. Ms Avi appeared as the MC to greet the students with enthusiasm, then the MC introduced and invited Kak Budi to perform, where this was the 3rd session from Kak Budi. In this session, Kak Budi brought a story about “The Origin of Telaga Warna”. In this third session, the students were also very happy and enthusiastic about listening to the fairy tales from Kak Budi.
That day, 5th & 6th grade elementary school students conducted an Indonesian language competition led by Ms Avi. 5th grade elementary school students analyzed characters based on folklore. Meanwhile, 6th grade elementary school students made comics based on folklore. Students also had the opportunity to visit the book bazaar.
Second day of Book Days 27 Oct 2022 (Chinese day)
At the opening ceremony, several students performed on stage singing a song. Then Laoshi Mei Mei invited the students to sing Chinese together happily. On this day there was a special drama appearance from the teachers entitled “The Tortoise and the Hare”. This drama is played by the principal Ms. Thedora, Ms. Beautiful and Ms. Wiwin. Today was the opportunity to invite one of the parents of Elementary students in grades 1 & 2 were reading Chinese poetry guided by Laoshi Wang. Laoshi Restu guided elementary school students grades 3 & 4 to draw and color and tell stories based on the pictures they made. Laoshi Mark guides 5th grade & elementary school students to redraw the book cover given, to rewrite the hanzi and pinyin writings.
Third day of Book Days 28 Oct 2022 (English day)
That day was the last day of Book Days. Today the students are wearing fictional book character costumes. The students appeared in various unique and interesting costumes. Kindergarten, elementary school, grades 1 & 2 students gathered in the SHB 5 hall. The activity began with an opening by MC Ms Neneng and Ms Tuti, followed by an opening prayer by Mr. Wayan. The first modern dance performance from elementary students. Followed by the appearance of the costumes of the students to the stage accompanied by music. Then the MC chose some students with attractive costumes to be interviewed. The MC asked what the student liked about the character’s costume he was wearing. Then the student is asked to show the movement or slogan of the character costume he is wearing. Then the most favorite costumes were selected from each class. Class photos and announcements of winners from the competition were also carried out.
Today the 1st & 2nd grade elementary school students have an English competition guided by Ms Tuti, where the activities for the 1st grade elementary school “with the topic “Why Do We Have Hobbies Project”, for the 2nd grade elementary school “making A Poster about students Favorite City”. ” Ms. Mediana guides elementary school grades 3 & 4, where for grade 3 elementary school with the activity “Making Book Report (Fairy Tale) & Its Elements”. 4th grade elementary school activity “Making Book Report (Adventurous Story) & Its Elements. Mr. Mark guides elementary school grades 5 & 6, where for grade 5 elementary school the topic of the activity is “What’s Literature Project”. For the 6th grade elementary school the topic of the activity is “Why Do We Explore Space”.
Elementary school grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 also performed costume performances in the SHB 4 hall. This activity was led by Mr. Mark as MC. In hosting the show, Mr. Mark appeared in a wizard costume, Mr. Mark was very expressive in hosting the event. On this occasion the students declared the Youth Pledge. Then the students display the costumes that are worn with musical accompaniment according to the character of the costume that is being used. The MC then chose some students with attractive costumes. The MC asked why the students chose the character. The MC also asked the students to show the actions of the costume characters that were being used. Followed by a class photo session and the announcement of the winners of the competition. Thus, Book Days activities end on that day.
