Mandarin Day at SHB School Modern Hill Middle School was held in the second semester of the school year on March 4, 2024. The event aimed to explore Chinese food culture. Each class was tasked with preparing five traditional Chinese delicacies: noodles, dumplings, wontons, siomai, and steamed buns. To accomplish this, each class was divided into five groups, with each group responsible for preparing one delicacy in the cafeteria. Additionally, 1-2 students from each group were tasked with creating Chinese posters showcasing their group's delicacies in the auditorium. These posters would later be used for on-site presentations, where students would explain their dishes in Chinese.
The event officially commenced at 8 o'clock in the morning after a prayer led by Ms. Marta. Students eagerly and enthusiastically began their culinary tasks, working diligently according to their assigned roles. Meanwhile, in the auditorium, students involved in poster-making engaged in focused and organized design work.
Junior high school students are trying to make delicious food, they are active and excited:

The students who made the posters were also serious and active.

This event ended successfully at 12 noon. Through this activity, students ate hand-made delicacies and learned about the history and symbolic meaning of such delicacies through poster making, giving them a more intuitive understanding of Chinese culture.
