The Spring Festival, commonly known as “Chinese New Year,” traditionally called New Year, Big Year, and New Age, is also referred to as “passing the year,” “celebrating the New Year,” or “celebrating the Spring Festival” in colloquial terms. It is the grandest traditional festival of the Chinese nation. The Spring Festival originated from the sacrificial activities to gods and ancestors at the turn of the year during the Shang Dynasty. It is the oldest, most grand, and most important traditional festival in China.
On February 3, 2025, the Kindergarten and Primary School of Harapan Bangsa School held a celebration for the Spring Festival. This year's theme was “The Year of the Wooden Snake: Resilient Progress.” The event took place at SHB 5 Facilities Building at 9:00 AM. Before the event started, each class had a group photo taken.
The ceremony began at 9:00 with an opening prayer, followed by the kindergarten principal, Mrs. Neneng, who gave New Year blessings to all the guests. Then, the headmaster of the branch, Mrs. Melany, delivered a speech. Following that, the Spring Festival programs began. The first performance was a lion dance, and then each class in the kindergarten prepared their own performances for the festival. There were seven performances in total, with three from the kindergarten: the “Cute Baby Welcomes the New Year” song and dance by the small and toddler classes, a gender-divided performance by the middle class (girls performed a Umbrella dance, and boys performed kung fu), and a fan dance “Jasmine Flower,” drum performance, and teachings of “Disciple’s Rules” by the senior class. Finally, there was another lion dance performance, and the homeroom teachers of each class handed out red envelopes and gift bags to the students. The event concluded successfully at 12:00 PM.
