Sekolah Harapan Bangsa Preschool – Modernland conducted an out-learning activity at Echo Dental Clinic from April 6 to 8, 2026. This annual program aims to introduce students to different occupations while developing their courage and confidence, especially when visiting the dentist. Through this experience, students were encouraged to feel more comfortable and brave about dental visits.
The visits were scheduled across several days to accommodate all classes. On Monday, the Kindergarten B-1 group visited first, followed by Kindergarten B-2 and Kindergarten B-3. On Tuesday, it was the turn of Kindergarten A-1 and Kindergarten A-2. Finally, on Wednesday, Kiddy Club -1A, Kiddy Club -1B, Playgroup -1A, and Playgroup -1B participated in the trip. All students travelled comfortably using the school buses provided by Sekolah Harapan Bangsa.
When the students got to the clinic, drg. Fonda and drg. Eko gave them a warm welcome. The students sat in the waiting room at the start of the activity and listened carefully to an interesting talk about teeth and why it is important to keep their teeth clean. drg. Fonda made it easy for young kids to understand how to brush their teeth and take care of their oral health.
After the introduction, the students were free to look around the clinic and see different dental tools. They were very interested in and excited about the equipment, which their teachers showed them. For a lot of them, it was the first time they had seen dental tools up close. The best part of the visit was the dental checkup. The students stood in a neat queue in the waiting area, patiently waiting for someone to call their names. They were very brave and excited during their checkups, even though they were nervous at first.
At the end of the activity, each student received a dental record book showing the results of their checkup. Later, their parents would get these books. The students were glad to receive educational gifts from Pepsodent, including toothpaste, a toothbrush, and a mini toy, which made the experience even better.
In addition to this program, during semester 2, the students also participated in a “Health Care” activity held at the school clinic. Our nurse conducted comprehensive check-ups, examining the students’ eyes, nose, mouth, teeth, and ears. She also measured each child’s height and weight, ensuring personalized attention for every student. The results were recorded in a health care book and given to parents.
Overall, these programs were highly beneficial. They not only educated students about dental care and general health but also helped instill the importance of maintaining good hygiene from an early age. These hands-on experiences play an important role in building children’s confidence and fostering positive attitudes toward healthcare, supporting them in leading healthier lives in the future.
