To conclude the 2025–2026 academic year, Sekolah Harapan Bangsa Modernhill held a Community Service event entitled “From Our Kitchen with Love” on Thursday, 11 June 2026. Unlike previous years, this year's programme introduced a live cooking and sharing concept, involving 199 students in every stage of the process—from preparing ingredients and cooking to packaging and distributing meals to residents living around the school. Through this hands-on approach, students were not merely donors but active participants who experienced the entire journey of giving firsthand.

The event began at 7:30 a.m. with group briefings and equipment checks, followed by an opening ceremony featuring remarks from the Principal. The live cooking session continued until 10:30 a.m. in an atmosphere that was both orderly and enthusiastic. Students were divided into 20 groups, each assigned specific responsibilities. The preparation teams washed vegetables and prepared ingredients, while the cooking teams worked under the supervision of teachers and parents. The packaging teams carefully packed the meals into environmentally friendly food containers, adhering to strict hygiene standards, including the use of gloves and face masks. Meanwhile, the logistics and sanitation teams coordinated the meal distribution and ensured the activity area remained clean and organised.

Through the collective efforts of all the groups, 250 nutritious meal boxes containing rice, chicken, vegetables, and fruit were prepared for distribution. Accompanied by their teachers and travelling on the school bus, the students personally delivered the meals to residents in need around the Modernhill campus. For many students, this distribution became the most memorable part of the day, as they witnessed the warm appreciation from community members who received the meals they had worked hard to prepare.

More than simply providing food, the programme was designed to foster empathy, teamwork, and social responsibility by engaging students directly in every stage of the activity. These values reflect the school's vision of Knowledge, Faith and Character.

“We want our students to understand that sharing requires effort, and that is precisely where its true value lies,” said Mr Dominikus Wahyu Heru Cahyadi, S.Pd, the coordinator of the programme. “Preparing the food themselves before giving it to others makes the experience of sharing far more meaningful than simply making a donation.”

The event concluded with a reflection session, during which students cleaned the activity area and shared their experiences and lessons learned throughout the day. The school also expressed its sincere appreciation to all teachers, parents, and committee members whose support contributed to the success of the programme. It is hoped that the spirit of generosity cultivated in the school kitchen will continue to inspire every Sekolah Harapan Bangsa student in their daily lives.
