Activity Report

The field practicum activity of Harapan Bangsa Senior High School, Modernhill, was conducted on Wednesday, 5 November 2025, with nine students and one accompanying teacher participating. The activity took place at the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Region II, located in Ciputat, South Tangerang City, and was facilitated by the BBMKG Region II Team.

The main objective of the activity was to introduce students to weather and climate, including the measurement of their elements, as well as to provide an understanding of earthquakes and mitigation efforts.

The series of activities started at 09.00 WIB and ended at 11.30 WIB, covering the following agenda:

  1. Welcome session and group photo in front of the BBMKG office.
  2. Visit to the Instrument Garden, to learn about various weather observation tools and their functions.
  3. Visit to the MCEWS Room, to understand the weather forecasting process and early warning systems.
  4. Visit to the Inskal Laboratory, which introduced the process of calibrating weather observation instruments.
  5. Visit to the TEWS Room, to study the earthquake monitoring and tsunami early warning systems.
  6. Closing session held in the TEWS Room before the participants returned to school.

Activity Evaluation

Overall, the edutrip ran in an orderly, informative, and interactive manner. The participants showed high enthusiasm throughout each session. The materials presented by the BBMKG team were relevant to the Grade XI Geography curriculum, particularly the topics of weather, climate, and natural disasters.

  1. Conclusions:
  1. Each session in the rooms and laboratories was well-organized.
  2. The facilitators explained the material using language that was easy for students to understand.
  3. Students actively asked questions and participated in instrument demonstrations.
  1. Suggestions:
  1. The duration of each session was relatively short, so not all instruments and systems could be explored in depth.
  2. The transition time between locations should be shortened to make the activity more efficient.

Follow-up Activity:
A follow-up project or observation report at school is planned to reinforce the outcomes of the visit.
