My Eighth Birthday

One of the most memorable moments that I still remember is the time my family celebrated my eighth birthday. My family celebrated all family members’ birthdays every year, but my father was absent many times because he was really busy at work and always traveling for business.  He would often buy me birthday presents from other countries a couple of days after my birthday. The presents were often pretty and cute and I liked them very much, but actually they were not the birthday presents that I really wanted. I felt a little depressed while I was walking home from school that day. I wanted to know when the whole family would celebrate a birthday together again. I walked into the house, my brother was putting the birthday cake on the table, and my mother came up to wish me a happy birthday, just like the previous years. While we were eating the cake, suddenly someone knocked on the door. All of us felt strange and my brother walked to the door to see who it was. Beyond everyone’s expectation, the one standing at the door was my father who was supposed to be on a business trip! I was really surprised, jumped onto him and gave him a big hug while he was wishing me a happy birthday.

Now my father does not have as many business trips as before, and we can often celebrate birthdays together, but the surprise of the eighth birthday is still so unforgettable for me.
