Should social media be controlled and monitored? Some people would say yes, but some other people would also say no. Monitored by parents, or controlled by the moderators, many people would have many different opinions, whether that is invading their privacy, or just being careful of what content they might see. These next paragraphs would contain opposing views of for and against related to this topic.
Many people are not aware of what could potentially show up in social media platforms. Especially for younger users, or under aged ones, they most likely won't have the mind set many older user does. One day they could be just scrolling through one of the social media app, and little did they know contents that they were not supposed to see pops out of no where. Young users of social medias should be monitored and controlled by the elders, for example – ask permissions whether or not they can open their apps or not, or even watching them from behind to make sure they don't come across, or even open contents that are not suitable for them. Some users and parents think it is safe for them to use social media however they want to, but no, luckily many social media platforms has many moderators monitoring users activity, and even a system that can help younger users to not be able to view contents that are not yet for their age.
The other side however, many teens, young users and even adult users thinks that they shouldn't be monitored by the moderators or the government. Most of them think that what they do on social media is a privacy everyone should respect. Therefor, they don't think that monitoring and controlling everything they do is the appropriate thing to do. Many people on social media has been banned for violating their community guidelines and rules, and they don't except it, it is their choice on what to do on social media's platform. In conclusion, people think that monitoring and controlling activities users do online is really disrespecting their own privacy.
On my experience of using social media so far, I agree that what I do shouldn't be controlled and monitored for the sake of my own privacy. The other side of me also says young social media users should always be monitored and controlled until they reach the appropriate age. On this argument I would agree on both sides, just in different circumstances and situation.
