But he did not mention clearly that the perpetrator was Johnny Depp. The ongoing trial of the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard cases has attracted public attention, especially after new facts were revealed that the star of the Pirates franchise actually admitted to experiencing violence.

After only a year of marriage, Depp was sued for divorce by Heard in May 2016 due to irreconcilable differences and the divorce was settled out of court until 2017. As a settlement, Heard claimed to have donated US$7 million or Rp. 101.5 billion to Los Children’s Hospital. Angeles and the American Civil Liberties Union, an organization focused on fighting violence against women.
Then in June 2018, Johnny Depp was reported as wife-beater by The Sun and he sued for 200,000 euros. The lawsuit took place in 2020 with the judge ruling that the articles published by The Sun were true. Still in 2018, articles that indirectly labeled Johnny Depp as a violent perpetrator re-emerged. This time through the December 2018 edition of the Washington Post op-ed, it contains Amber Heard’s exclusive opinion about her domestic life which is filled with violence. Although it was not stated that the person Heard was referring to was Depp, Johnny Depp’s party believed that the accusations were directed at him, especially since the article had also destroyed his career. Johnny Depp sued Amber Heard for defamation in March 2019 worth US$50 million or Rp.723 billion. In the lawsuit, Depp denies harassing and abusing Amber Heard, claiming the Washington Post op-ed was a hoax. Meanwhile, Heard is suspected of calling Depp’s action an attempt to silence Amber Heard.
On the last day of testimony, Heard’s recording of Depp’s lawsuit was played. “Tell them I’m Johnny Depp. I’m a victim of domestic violence and see how many people will believe and side with you.” Depp was then asked by his lawyer whether he was a victim of domestic violence, the 58-year-old actor replied “Yes.” So far Heard has not taken a stand and the trial is still ongoing.
