It is undeniable that technology has helped humanity for years with an immeasurable number of tasks. Over the years, technology has evolved alongside humanity, and it is now becoming a near-godlike intelligence. As a result, numerous people use modern technologies in their daily life. On the other hand, one particular age group might do the opposite with technology. That being the elders.

Some elders may detest using modernised versions of the technology. It can be due to the complicated and complex understanding needed to use them. It gives rise to problems and the elderly being overwhelmed. In addition, it can be due to concerns over privacy-related worries. Being protective is a mainstream matter. However, persisting overly sceptical thoughts about technology brings plenty of drawbacks.

There are countless benefits the elderly can reap from today’s technology. Smartphones and tablets alone do heaps of tasks. First, elders can browse and search for information on the internet. Second, entertainment is widespread on the internet, delivering fun for the elderly when they are bored. They can also find joy in playing video games and doing puzzles or just listening to music. The most notable function is being able to communicate with people online.

Undeniably, smartphones are only a portion of the technology that can aid senior people. Wheelchair, walking cane, and scooter helps seniors who struggle with walking. However, the most important technology is the medical alert system. It can help monitor the elders’ well-being and signal the trained emergency response operators in times of emergency.

With how much it simplifies things, there is no doubt that technology is humanity’s hope for survival. Therefore, people should introduce technology to the elders for their comfort. Though, people should not force seniors to use them instantly. Start slowly and explain the concepts and benefits of the devices. People can also adjust the devices according to the elderly needs. When the seniors are comfortable, they can be left to learn on their own.
