“Little Women” is a 2019 American coming-of-age period drama film written and directed by Greta Gerwig. It is originally a novel written by Louisa May Alcott. The movie centers on the March sisters: Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy. In 1868, Jo March visits Mr. Dashwood to have her novel edited. However, Mr. Dashwood advises that if she wants to write the main character as a girl, they must get married or pass away before the story is over. Her youngest sister, Amy, is in Paris with her aunt. She then meets Laurie, who is her childhood friend, and asks him to attend a party with her, only to be disappointed when she sees Laurie's behavior at the party.
Seven years earlier, at a party, the eldest sister, Meg, meets Laurie. On a Christmas morning, Mrs. March tells the girls to share their food with a poor family. Their neighbor, Mr. Laurence, decides to give the girls a table full of food after seeing what they have done.
Amy's mother sends her to Aunt March's house to prevent her from catching the scarlet fever that Beth got from the Hummels. Beth's condition worsens, and she dies.
Laurie proposes to Jo but sadly gets rejected. Jo considers herself an independent woman who does not require a man and believes she will get bored of him in 2 years. She tells the same thing to convince her sister Meg when she wants to get married.
But after some time thinking, Jo regrets turning Laurie down and writes a letter to him. Unfortunately, it's too late because Laurie has already proposed to her sister, Amy.
Jo decides to discard the letter she had written to him and begins to write a novel based on her sisters' lives. Friedrich Bhaer, the German professor, surprises the family with his sudden appearance. He then tells Jo that if she ever comes to California, he would love to see her. Jo is unsure if she can, though. After saying their goodbyes, he leaves the house with a sad look on his face.
My prediction for the film is that Jo will end up with Friedrich and get married. Also, she will be a successful writer and publish her novel.
