A Students’ Life: The Endeavor for Excellence

Troubles in school, falling grades, and inability to grasp concepts are common challenges in our academic journey. The feeling when your self-imposed expectations are not met is saddening and inevitable. Nevertheless, what is done is done. Dwelling on past mistakes will only hold us back. Mistakes are unavoidable, but they could be lessons that could better us.

Some people get more upset than most; they like to wallow in their mistakes, refusing to accept that the situation is fixed. Getting upset is natural, but getting upset for too long can be futile. In a world with around 7 billion people, you cannot be the only one ever to make a mistake! Embrace these mistakes, take them as lessons, and improve.

Let us say you got a lousy score on one of your tests, do not let it define your abilities. Do not be so rough on yourself. Take a deep breath, then evaluate and analyze your mistakes. Ask yourself, what went wrong? Did you not prepare enough? Were you not careful enough? Was it a lack of materials? Understanding the root of your problems might help you figure something out.

If you cannot figure anything out, do not be scared to ask for help, whether it is teachers, parents, or friends. Asking for help does not mean you are lesser than or inadequate. You are just as capable as everyone else!

Mistakes are essential to our learning process; everyone will encounter them, which is entirely normal. We are all flawed, but we could improve those flaws. I have not gotten the hang of this either, so let us all improve together and step into this new academic year with a fresh mindset!
