Beginning in 2017, Sekolah Harapan Bangsa Cambridge Primary runs Cambridge Young Learners exams for our Grade 2 and Grade 4 students.
These exams involve Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking and are taken on a Saturday morning at school together with Mentari Groups Indonesia and the English team of Ms Jenny, Ms Santi and Mr Peter. The Speaking exams are taken with native speakers thus giving our students the chance to talk and gain confidence with these first language examiners.
Run on a voluntary basis, after many weeks of extra preparation classes, we had 17 Grade 2 Movers students and 23 Grade 4 Flyers students take these exams on Saturday May 25, 2024.
These exams are a fantastic extracurricular activity for our students to be able to show their strengths in an internationally recognised qualification. Specifically designed for school-aged students, these exams provide important milestones as language learning can be a long process.
Our Grade 2 students are rewarded with the Cambridge Movers certificates, the Grade 4 students receive the Cambridge Flyers certificates, and then all of our Grade 6 students sit the Cambridge Checkpoint exams in English, Maths and Science.
Thank you to all of the students keen to add to their English skills, and a very warm appreciation of the parents who support us year after year. When the Cambridge Young Learners certificates arrive early in the new academic year, a small ceremony will be undertaken to present the students with their well-earned results.
We look forward to ongoing and increased participation in these exams in the coming years.
