Grade 12 students of Sekolah Harapan Bangsa visited campuses to help them decide where they would like to further their education. The second campus that SHB students visited was Universitas Multimedia Nusantara, which is mostly known as UMN.
After we arrived, we were given the option to choose one of three majors as soon as we got off the bus. The three categories of students are Communications, Digital Design, and Business. This made it easier for us to pursue our interests right from the onset of the research work. We got to experience what it would be like to pursue that specific major and understand what we would learn in that field if we chose to go to UMN.
After deciding on one of the three majors available, we were served a simple meal for breakfast consisting of a variety of bread and water, and it gave us time to talk with others and our tour guides for the day, who were also students at the university. Shortly after that, we began with a campus tour during which we observed some of the newly developed facilities within the campus for all the available majors.
After the campus visit, we were guided into different classrooms to listen to a seminar about the major we had chosen from the beginning and learn more about what we would be learning and experiencing if we chose UMN. All workshops were conducted by active students of UMN related to the major we decided on. We were shown examples of students' work and participated in activities within the corresponding majors.
At the end of the tour, we not only learned more about our respective majors but also got an idea of what the atmosphere of the UMN is like. It was an impactful day as we got the chance to explore and learn simultaneously, and we looked forward to studying at UMN.
