As part of the SHB FEST 2024, students from SD SHB Modernland Cambridge Primary were invited to join the Storytelling competition.

Three students were chosen. They were Aileen Michaela Yudhistira and Izabelle Tjitrahardja from 5C and Caroline Khansa Susanto from 6B.

Fortunately, we had a month to prepare which allowed us plenty of time to choose the stories to tell, organise props and costumes, and to practice again and again.

The theme of the competition was folklore, so Aileen chose Bawang Merah Bawang Putih, Izabelle chose Timun Mas while Caroline chose the story of Malin Kundang – three very well-known folklore stories from Indonesia.

By November 4, the girls were ready. 

Battling nerves, but excited, the three girls performed magnificently and were confident that they had done their very best.

By the end of the week, the winners were announced. 

In first place was Aileen and in third place was Caroline. Congratulations to the three girls. They all agreed that while stressful, it had been a lot of fun and a terrific learning experience.
