In preparation for Easter, Catholics are given the opportunity to prepare themselves beforehand. This period is known as Lent, a time of fasting and abstinence. The season of fasting and repentance begins with the celebration of Ash Wednesday, which this year falls on March 5, 2025.
Sekolah Harapan Bangsa, as an educational institution that strongly emphasizes faith and character formation, provides its students with the opportunity to observe and take part in this important faith-building period.
This year’s Ash Wednesday celebration was organized by Catholic students from Primary, along with students from Kindergarten, Junior High, and Senior High School at Sekolah Harapan Bangsa Modernland. The mass, which started at 9:00 AM WIB in the Sekolah Harapan Bangsa 1 gymnasium, was conducted solemnly and smoothly. Despite the hot weather, the students and attendees remained focused throughout the service, which was led by Father Micy SVD. The entire mass, from the imposition of ashes, Holy Communion, to the final blessing, was joyfully participated in by both students and the many attendees present. The students remained enthusiastic until the mass concluded.
In addition to Catholic students, non-Catholic students from Sekolah Dasar Harapan Bangsa were also given the opportunity to hold their respective religious activities, guided by their religion teachers and other assisting teachers. Students of Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, and Protestant faiths joyfully participated in their respective religious sessions.
This Faith Day was carried out with the hope that SHB Primary students would continue to grow in their faith and character, shaping them into devout individuals who contribute positively to society.
