Sekolah Harapan Bangsa proudly celebrated its 80th Independence Day with joy, excitement, and unity. August 17 is a significant date for Indonesians because it commemorates the country’s declaration of independence. Every year, Indonesians mark this historic occasion with pride, gratitude, and joy.
This year, Sekolah Harapan Bangsa Preschool – Modernland held its Independence Day celebration on August 20, 2025, at the school, filled with excitement, togetherness, and fun activities for students, parents, and teachers. The day started with a flag ceremony. Prajna, Riyuka, Caitlyn, Claire, Marvell, Narumi, Violin, and Megan were chosen as officers from Kindergarten B. When the Indonesian flag was raised, all of the students saluted the flag and enthusiastically sang “Indonesia Raya.” Then after the ceremony ended the children sang the song “Berkibarlah Benderaku,” and “Hari Merdeka.” As teachers, students, and parents gathered to celebrate Indonesia’s independence. After the ceremony, the celebration continued with fun and engaging games for each. The Kiddy Club students took part in “Moving the Balls” and “Picking Up the Flags.” The Playgroup students participated in activities like “moving rings” and “moving the flag.” Kindergarten A students competed in “Egg Spoon Race” and “Sorting the Balls,” while Kindergarten B students participated in “Marble Relay” and “Sack Race.” All of the children showed great enthusiasm. The students were overjoyed because they received a traditional musical instrument known as “ Xylophone.”
The celebration did not stop there! Parents joined in the fun with exciting competitions like “putting the pencil into the bottle and the basket hanging competition.” It was a lot of fun, and we appreciate everyone’s continued support for our programs. This event was a huge success among students, parents, and teachers alike. Parents cheered as they demonstrated their competitive spirit. The winners were presented with special gifts, and parent representatives were given consolation prizes. To conclude the day, the teachers held their games, which included “guessing song titles,” “guessing pictures,” “international karaoke,” “quiz competition,” and the traditional kerupuk contest. Everyone had a good time and embraced the spirit of community. It was an unforgettable Independence Day celebration at Sekolah Harapan Bangsa preschool. Merdeka! See you again next year!
