To celebrate Language Day, Preschool Harapan Bangsa Modernhill held a special event to honor three languages: Indonesian, Mandarin, and English. The event was filled with excitement and enthusiasm from all kindergarten students (KC, PG, KA, KB).
Opening Ceremony
Language Day began with an opening speech from Ms. Neneng Sahwana, the Principal of Preschool Harapan Bangsa Modernhill. In her speech, she emphasized that the purpose of this event was to foster children’s love for languages and cultures from an early age.
Indonesian Language Day Activities
On Indonesian Language Day, the children enjoyed a storytelling session by Kak Budi and several parents. The parents used puppet dolls to tell the story, making the session more engaging and interactive.
The story presented was “Timun Mas”, a beloved Indonesian folktale full of moral lessons about courage and cleverness. The children were thrilled as they followed Timun Mas’s adventure against the giant.
In addition to storytelling, students visited the coloring booth of Timun Mas characters, where they expressed their creativity using bright and cheerful colors.
Not only that, the children also visited the Timun Mas live character booth featuring full costumes. Ms. Aurel dressed as Mpok Srini and Mr. Alwin as Buto Ijo. Their presence brought laughter and excitement, as the children felt like they had met the real characters from the story.

Mandarin Language Day Activities
The Mandarin Language Day featured a storytelling session of “Shǒu zhū dài tù” (守株待兔). Parents also participated by using hand puppets to make the story livelier and more entertaining. This classic story taught the children the importance of working hard and not relying solely on luck.
After listening to the story, the children continued with an art activity — painting LianPu (脸谱) masks, traditional Chinese opera masks that are colorful and full of meaning. This activity allowed the children to explore Chinese cultural art while being creative with shapes and colors
