The month of fasting and Eid holidays

Until now, the Government through the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) has not determined when the start of fasting or 1 Ramadan 1443 Hijriah falls in the Christian calendar. To determine the start of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, the Ministry of Religion uses 2 methods, namely reckoning and also rukyatul hilal. The Ministry of Religion determines the start of fasting for Ramadan and Eid by means of mathematical and astronomical calculations plus direct observation of the appearance of the moon. The results will be announced after the isbat trial. On the other hand, the Islamic mass organization Muhammadiyah provides an estimate for the start of Ramadan and Eid in 2022.

According to predictions in the Global Islamic Calendar 1443 H published by the PP Muhammadiyah Tarjih and Tajdid Council, the start of Ramadan 2022 fasting is expected to fall on Saturday, April 2, 2022. According to the Global Islamic Calendar, 30 Ramadan 1443 Hijri or the last day of fasting will fall on Sunday , May 1, 2022. Then Eid al-Fitr or Eid will fall on May 2 and 3, 2022.

However, the Tarjih Council and Tajdid PP Muhammadiyah stated that until now the Global Islamic Calendar 1443 Hijri model is still a prototype. According to them, if there are differences later, the guide is the Muhammadiyah Hijri Calendar which is printed and published by Suara Muhammadiyah.

People are allowed to go home for Eid 2022, but there are travel conditions that must be met, namely complete vaccinations and boosters.
