Celebrating Indonesia Through Little Eyes
August brought a wonderful sense of excitement to our Preschool as our little learners embarked on a colorful journey of discovery. With Indonesia’s Independence Month as our inspiration, the children explored what makes a country special—not only its traditions, but also its people, food, symbols, music, and unique cultural heritage.
For our young learners, every activity became an opportunity to discover something new, ask questions, express themselves, and celebrate the beauty of diversity.
Exploring the World Through Flags
Our cultural journey began with something colorful and fascinating: flags!
The children were introduced to the names and appearances of flags from different countries. Through flashcards, matching games, and visual exploration, they learned to recognize various colors, patterns, and symbols.
This simple yet engaging activity encouraged children to observe carefully, strengthen their memory, and expand their vocabulary while developing an early awareness of the world beyond their classroom.
Creating, Singing & Moving Together
Learning continued beyond stories and pictures. Our classroom came alive with art, music, and movement!
The children created Indonesian-themed artwork, explored the colors red and white, sang Indonesian songs, and participated in fun traditional-inspired games.
Through these hands-on experiences, they developed their creativity, fine and gross motor skills, listening skills, confidence, and ability to work together.
This August, our little learners discovered that learning about Indonesia can be colorful, joyful, and full of wonder.
