It’s true that a family’s support for a teenager is very important. This is because family is the very first unit of society that every teenager encounters, and how they are treated by their family is what builds their personalities and mindsets. There are too many cases where teenagers suffer a mental breakdown just because none of their family members are willing to support them. Some parents often question why their son or daughter can’t be as good as the other kids out there that are outstanding in the school. Maybe it’s because of the teenager’s own unwillingness, or maybe because the teenager is influenced by his or her surroundings.

In my opinion, a family’s support is the most important influence. For example, if some children can’t do some things correctly or can’t perform as well as their friends, their families should not scold them or continue to criticise them about where they go wrong. Too much criticism can badly affect children, and they could suffer a mental breakdown, which can turn them into a mess who performs even more badly than before. The teenager won’t know what to do and may be afraid to do anything further. Instead, parents need to give their teens more support and encouragement.

As teenagers’ personalities begin to evolve, they also develop certain fixed mindsets, which often result in them wanting to do things in their own ways. As they grow up, they start to think about what do they want to do in the future or their dream jobs. Creative teenagers love to create magnificent things on their own, and the best way to let their imaginations run further and create more is to support their passions. It never hurts to support a designer, since parents won’t know what will happen in the future. A young girl whose hobby is to draw cute and adorable cartoon characters every day has the potential to one day become a successful Disney movie illustrator, but not if her parents pressure her to be a doctor instead. Let the kids’ imaginations flow, and let them follow their dreams.

Certain things should be done to maintain a healthy relationship between children and their parents. The important things are communication and support. Teenagers or children won’t live their lives to the fullest and achieve their dreams if they feel as if they’re not able to talk openly about their ambitions or desires with parents who do not support or encourage them. Every kid has his or her own ambitions, and the best thing parents should do to help them realise those ambitions is to communicate with their children. They can ask them about what do they want to do and achieve, and let them explain which subjects they are passionate about. They can achieve their dreams and be successful if their own parents believe and are supportive of them. Supporting someone is not hard to do, and something so simple can lead to amazingly successful results. In the end, a supported child is more likely to be successful, and that success will bring feelings of pride and admiration to those parents who offered support and motivation from the beginning.
