MY STORY ON ISLAMIC NEW YEAR
It was recently that time of the year again where we Muslims get together with friends and family to celebrate a special moment together, Islamic New Year.
This year my family and I drove all the way to my grandmother’s house which is two hours away, to reunite with my relatives. Once we arrived we went straight to the nearby Mosque and said our Eid Prayers. After finishing our Eid prayers, we went straight back to our Grandmother’s house and apologized to each other for all our mistakes through the year.
After having breakfast, we decided to visit our Grandfather’s graveyard. We prayed for his soul to rest peacefully and prayed for Allah’s blessing. After visiting our Grandfather’s graveyard, we took another walk to our relative’s house.
After arriving there I was greeted by my aunts and uncles. It turned out they had just finished cleaning up all the mess from the goats that had just been cut. We talked for a while there and we also ate some food like Opor.
After saying goodbye to my Aunts and Uncles, we decided to walk back to our grandmother’s house and spend the rest of our day together. Our Islamic new year celebrations were simple, but also memorable.
