In Indonesia, the school year commences in July and ends in June. It is divided into two semesters; the first is from July to December and the latter is from January to June.
Students are required to pass the final tests in order to be able to sit in the next level. That is to say, June can be a tensing yet a worth-waiting moment for all students since they need to struggle in the aforementioned test before deserving a long break and then sitting in the next grade. The length of the break varies between two weeks to two months depending on the school policy.
As the holiday ends, students have to return to school and join the orientation program held by schools in the first few days. It aims to create familiarity of school regulations and standards as well as recharge students’ motivation to face a new academic year. In the primary level of Harapan Bangsa School Modernhill – South Tangerang, the three-week end of the academic year break lasted on Friday, 14 July 2023. Starting on 17 July 2023, all students returned to school and began the orientation. Some students looked excited when they met their classmates and teachers as evidenced by their facial expressions. For the first three days, students were introduced to the school programs and regulations. This is a chance for students, especially the new ones, to learn how things work at their new school and socialize with other students as well as faculty members.
