I lay on my bed, staring at the white ceiling. I was in a whole new environment. Since my house was getting renovated, we had to stay elsewhere. I let out a sigh, pulling my phone from my pocket. I had always desired a cat. I scrolled through Shopee, an online shopping app. Cats always appeared on my page. Of course, Shopee was no exception. There were people selling cats from all around Indonesia—some from Bali, Madiun, Surabaya, and other cities.
“When will I get a cat…” I murmured, slightly frowning as I closed the app. My parents had promised that we would get a new cat in our temporary home. It had been almost a week since we moved in. The door suddenly burst open, and my dad walked in with a cheeky grin. Curious, I asked him, “What made you so happy today?” My eyebrow raised.
My dad let out a small cough, proudly putting down his bag. “You said you wanted a cat, right?” he asked. “Yeah. Why?”
“Start searching for a good shop; we’ll be getting one tomorrow!” he said joyously. My face lit up, a bright smile playing on my lips. “Really? You're not joking, right?” I sat down on my bed, grinning widely. “Yes. So, sleep early today.”
The next day, we headed to Ciledug, where the cat store was located. I had one cat in mind that they had in their store page. It was a mix, a British Shorthair calico cat. Her fur mixed with yellow, black, and blue colors, her nose was flat like a peaknose cat. I was excited to meet her! Arriving at the shop, we looked around. Then, a man greeted us from the shop. “Hello! Which cat are you looking for?” he asked, leading us to the cages. There were many cats to choose from, including Himalayan cats, British Shorthairs, Bengal cats, and Ragdolls.
After playing with many cats, we decided to go with the Ragdoll. She was a sweet girl, always looking for attention. “What should we name her?” my sister asked. “How about Kiwi?” my eldest sister suggested. I thought about it for a moment, then decided to go with the name.
“Welcome home, Kiwi!”
