Comedy dramas have always been the genre that I enjoy watching. Among many comedy dramas that I have watched so far, The Intern is one of my favorites. The Intern is a Hollywood movie directed by Nancy Meyers. Starring the Academy Award actors and actresses, Robert De Niro, Anna Hathaway, René Russo, Adam DeVine, and many more. This film tells the story of an elderly guy, Ben Whittaker, played amazingly by Robert De Niro, who doesn't think retirement is pleasant. He then started working as an apprentice at a fast-growing e-commerce fashion startup in Brooklyn. Ben impressed everyone with his work. He is one of five senior interns hired. One day, Ben organizes a messy desk, which the CEO, Jules Ostin, has complained about. Then, Jules began to know Ben's whereabouts. After work, Ben realized that Jules was drunk, so he took Jules home. Then he was appointed to be Jules' personal driver for tomorrow, since her driver was absent.

On their first drive, Ben and Jules engaged in pleasant conversation. From the conversation, they realized that Jules' current startup is where Ben used to work. Since then, their relationship has become closer. Ben is not only close to Jules, but also close to Jules' family. Jules is married to a man named Matt. Matt sacrificed his career to become a full-time housefather to look after their daughter, Paige. Although halfway through, Ben realized that Matt was cheating on Jules. On the other hand, Jules is under pressure to hand over her position as CEO to a new person because investors feel she is unable to handle the current workload. They also think it would be better for Jules to stay at home as a homemaker.

Days went by, and finally, Jules found out about Matt cheating on her. To save her marriage, Jules decided to accept the new CEO candidate. However, Ben really asked him to reconsider the decisions. Thinking about how much effort and passion she had put into this company. Matt suddenly arrives at the office and urges Jules to reconsider. Matt said he was ashamed and sorry for his actions, and then wanted to support Jules' dreams.

I have watched this film several times and I really enjoyed it. I learned a lot from this film. The first lesson is to be open-minded. We must not judge a book by its cover. Ben's age does not have anything to do with work ethics, and his enthusiasm for learning is commendable. Ben learns a lot from Jules about business. On the other hand, Jules learned a lot about life from Ben. The second one is collaboration. Ben, as an older man, realizes things that young people don't. When Jules was irritated by the number of rejections from clients, Ben knew what had to be done. When Jules is frustrated with Ben's existence, the other members manage to convince him that Ben is valuable and age is not an obstacle. The last one adapts quickly. As a retiree who returned to work as an intern, Ben struggled with sophisticated technology that was foreign to him. However, thanks to his seriousness in working, he slowly started to get used to it. An agile attitude is essential to apply at work. We must adapt to changing times to continue to survive global competition.

This film has a happy ending, where everyone finally settles for what they aim for. I highly recommend everyone to watch this movie. It’s such a heartwarming movie that I could watch it many times without getting bored. The camera angles are surrealistic, the color composition was brilliant, and it was pleasant to watch. The script writing was superb; there are many things we can undoubtedly learn from this film, which hit the box office upon its release. To sum up, The Intern is worth watching and very heartwarming.
