Megan Auriel Vijaya – 8A
As soon as I opened the door, I knew something was wrong. I squeezed the doorknob tightly and walked into my room carefully. There was only complete darkness and a chilly atmosphere accompanying me as I snuggled into my blanket hesitantly… or was it? I shifted under the blanket anxiously. It felt as if someone or something was watching me.
Creak…
I gulped as the door creaked sinisterly. My heart pounded in my chest so hard that cold droplets of sweat fell from my forehead.
I prayed to God relentlessly as I felt the creature coming closer. Oh my… whatever it is… it’s on my bed now. I held my breath. I didn’t dare make a sound.
Closer…
Closer…
“Meow…”
I blinked several times, trying to process this. After mustering up the courage, I decided to peek from under my blanket.
Of course. It was my cat, Lily.
I sighed, releasing the breath I didn’t know I was holding. I tossed my blanket aside and gave Lily a tight hug before finally being able to fall asleep comfortably as I slowly closed my eyes.
