On February 23, 2026, Harapan Bangsa Modernhill School joyfully Chinese New Year celebration attended by all junior and senior high school students. The event was lively and filled with a strong spirit of togetherness, reflecting the values of unity in diversity that the school always upholds.
The celebration began in a warm and festive atmosphere, decorated with traditional Chinese New Year ornaments dominated by red and gold colors, symbolizing luck and prosperity. All students enthusiastically participated in the series of well-prepared activities. Various exciting performances enlivened the event, such as storytelling sessions that presented inspiring stories about Chinese New Year traditions, traditional dances showcasing the beauty of Chinese culture, an impressive zigu performance, and energetic and entertaining singing and dancing performances.
One of the most anticipated performances was a drama titled “The Legend of Nian.” Through this drama, students were introduced to the legend of the Nian creature, which is the origin of the tradition of using red colors and firecrackers during Chinese New Year celebrations. The performance was not only entertaining but also provided deep cultural insight for the audience.
This celebration was not merely a ceremonial event, but also a learning opportunity for students to understand the true meaning of Chinese New Year—new hope, renewed spirit, and self-reflection to become better individuals. The year 2026 is the Year of the Fire Horse, symbolizing strength, courage, passion, and determination to move forward. The philosophy of the Fire Horse teaches us to have positive energy, work hard, never give up, and be brave in facing challenges.
In line with this meaning, it is hoped that all students of Harapan Bangsa School can embody the spirit of the Fire Horse in their daily lives. May this new year inspire all of us to become more disciplined, more diligent in learning, enthusiastic in achieving success, and able to demonstrate good manners, politeness, and responsibility both in school and in society.
