Our Table Manners activity began on August 26 with Kindergarten B, followed by Kindergarten A on September 3, and Kiddy Club and Playgroup on September 4. This fun and meaningful activity was designed to introduce our young learners to the importance of good table manners, healthy eating habits, and proper mealtime routines. Through this experience, the children had the opportunity to learn practical skills that they can use every day while enjoying a fun and memorable mealtime together.
The activity began with the teacher introducing simple but important table manners. The children learned how to hold a spoon in the right hand and a fork in the left hand, sit properly at the table, use their utensils correctly, eat politely, and keep their eating area clean and tidy. They also learned about the importance of choosing various healthy and nutritious foods to support their growth and keep their bodies strong and healthy. Before having their meal, the children washed their hands and prayed together, practicing proper hygiene and learning to be grateful for the food they were about to enjoy.
The children were then excited to put their new table manners into practice while enjoying a delicious and nutritious meal. Kindergarten A and Kindergarten B enjoyed Heukmi Bap, Chicken Popcorn, Sauteed carrot, and Vanilla Panna Cotta, while Kiddy Club and Playgroup enjoyed Nori Rice, Chicken Teriyaki, Sautéed Broccoli, and Vanilla Panna Cotta, all prepared by Sodexo Indonesia. The colorful variety of dishes gave the children an opportunity to explore different flavors and nutritious ingredients. During the meal, they practiced taking small bites, chewing their food properly, using their utensils carefully, and enjoying their food in a calm and pleasant manner. After finishing their meal, the students also practiced independence and responsibility by tidying up their plates and utensils by themselves.
Through this activity, the children learned that mealtime is not only about enjoying delicious food but also about developing good manners, independence, responsibility, and respect for others. They practiced waiting patiently, keeping their surroundings clean, and using polite words such as “please” and “thank you.” The Table Manners activity was a wonderful learning experience that combined healthy eating with important life skills. We hope that the good manners, healthy habits, and positive mealtime routines learned through this activity will continue to grow and become part of the children’s everyday lives, both at school and at home.
