[:en]As a means of communication, languages play an important part in our life. My father once told me that foreign language learning back then was not as good as it is now. He also told me that people that were able to speak English and other foreign languages were considered very intelligent. Because people are getting more aware about the importance of languages, we can see how foreign languages, especially English and Mandarin, are now learned since very early levels. In my school, Sekolah Harapan Bangsa, we have quite intensive language classes. We have 5 sessions of English and 7 sessions of Mandarin classes. These language classes use a leveling system, a system that puts the students into a level based on their language abilities. One obvious benefit of this is every student can learn English and Mandarin at the right pace, not too slow, not too fast. One thing that I like about the language classes is (, which is also challenging), there are native English and Mandarin teachers. They are very fluent and so I feel challenged to keep up and try to improve. By learning foreign languages at SHB, I hope that I can be more confident to use my English and Mandarin in communication.
