There are so many stories about how April the 1st is celebrated as April Fool’s Day across the world. The most widespread one is about the calendar. The day is celebrated by people playing pranks and practical jokes with their friends. In the year 1582, Pope Gregory the XIII, introduced a new calendar that is called as the Gregorian calendar. This calendar is started the New Year on the 1st of January. This information took time to spread all over many other places as there was no internet and phone at that time yet. Many people did not know about the change in the calendar. Many others who knew about it refused to accept the new calendar. These people continued to celebrate the New Year’s Day on the 1st of April. People who believed on the new calendar started making fun of those who did not believe on it. They led them to believe in things that were not exist, even they made pranks or jokes to their friends. France became the first country to implement this change and accepted the Gregorian Calendar, and many other countries started accepting it slowly. The new calendar was accepted worldwide, but the pranks are stayed on. Parents, friends, siblings and relatives often play tricks on their loved ones on the 1st of April. All the pranks are just for harmless fun and never to hurt anyone. At the end of the pranks, people usually yell “April Fool” and people laugh from everywhere. On this day, people can get over almost anything without guilt and often play out pranks that are harmless.
