FIRST DAY

MONDAY, July 13, 2026

July 13th, 2026 was our first day at Sekolah Harapan Bangsa Primary School – Modernland. The day brought us excitement, a few nerves, and probably a lot of questions — for the teachers and the students, however, we are so glad that the first day was a smooth, happy start !

The teachers had prepared the week of orientation for grade 1 and 2, the young members of SHB Modernland Primary School. Orientation day was designed to be gentle and welcoming, not overwhelming. In the morning after the students found their class and met their new classmates, the teachers welcomde each child individually and introduced themselves, so they know who to go to for help and start building a friendly, trusting connection right away.

On the first day, the students also met our school nurse, Nurse Desy, and our school counsellor, Ms. Devy.Our school nurse met with the children to talk about staying healthy and safe at school in a friendly, fun way. Staying healthy and safe at school has become an important highlight for our orientation week program.

Miss Devy, the school counsellor, led an activity focused on kindness, cooperation, and building positive habits with classmates.We also played simple, fun games designed to help children meet their new classmates, learn names, and start forming friendships in a relaxed setting.

We closed the first day of orientation with lots of smiles. Some students walked in confidently on day one; others may need a few days or weeks to feel fully settled, and that's completely normal. Hopefully all children feel safe, valued, and excited to start school !
