Sekolah Harapan Bangsa, A School in My Heart

SHB, or Sekolah Harapan Bangsa is one of good schools in Indonesia. SHB has 3 main buildings, SHB 1 for Primary School and Cambridge International School, and both SHB 2 and SHB 3 are secondary schools with national curriculum. Because SHB 1 and SHB 3 are located in Modernland, both schools often cooperate to do some events, like Mandarin Courses or Floorball Training in SHB 1. Though SHB 2 is the furthest unit, the cooperation among these campuses can be seen from many activities that are held each year. For  example when the Chinese Ambassador came to SHB 3, all students from SHB 1 and 2 went to SHB 3 Auditorium and all of them greeted him with the greatly heart.

At first joining this school, I was excited because I was going into a big school. I went to SHB for secondary school and it was totally different with my old primary school. My old primary school wasn’t as big as SHB and wasn’t as comfortable as SHB. First time I came to SHB, I felt like I was at lobby in a hotel. SHB gave so much comfort even though it was just the lobby, like soft sofa, LED TV, air conditioner & purifier, and a fish pond. The fish pond was full of well-taken care gold fish.

After a few moment, I felt SHB like my second home. SHB has everything I need in the process of my learning. They provide me a comfortable library with tons of well-organized books and two computers to research some important information online. They have a music room where I can train my music skills. There are music instruments that make the music lesson more efficient and easier for the students. SHB provided three labs: Biology Lab, Physic Lab, and Chemistry Lab. All of them are completed with complete scientific practical equipments. For the IT lessons, my school has two computer labs. Each classroom is equipped with one projector to support digital learning. For the religion lessons, the school provides different room for different purpose, like the Christians use Christian room, the Moslems use Moslem Room, etc.

Events or activities held in SHB are more interesting compared to others schools. Most schools could create events just in one place like big hall or field, but SHB have more than that. My school has an Auditorium that can hold up to 500 people, as well as AV 1 and AV 2 for indoor events/activities. It also has a gymnasium, basketball court and volley court that are often used for OSIS events. OSIS in SHB are so creative in making of funny activities after mid-term test and final test. Each class competes to be the best class in class meeting. They work together as a family. Their spirits are burned to win. Everyone blends in to support class meeting with a cheerful heart.

My school has kind teachers that teach me about character, knowledge and faith, exactly like SHB’s vision. Each day, I grow more discipline and smarter. My faith is also sharpened. Getting friends in SHB wasn’t as hard as I thought. Foods in SHB aren’t as expensive as foods in other schools. I’ve been gone to some schools which provide their foods/meals in a very high price in their canteen. For me, SHB canteen’s foods were in decent prices with good tastes.

For the better future of SHB, I expect better qualities in learning, for example more English sessions to practice my English skills intensively. I also encourage an improvement of the implementation of good rules and regulations, for example, bringing tobacco/cigarette to school which has been implemented properly in my school.
