SD HARAPAN BANGSA MODERNHILL
On Wednesday, September 30, 2026, SD Harapan Bangsa Modernhill hosted a lively and joyful Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration. The event was attended by distinguished guests, including Mr. Purnawan Sutiono (Assistant Deputy Chairman), Ms. Melany Kusumawati Gigir (Head of School, Harapan Bangsa Modernhill), and Ms. Neneng Sahwana (Kindergarten Principal), alongside kindergarten and primary school teachers, staff members, and all students from the Harapan Bangsa Modernhill Kindergarten and Primary School.
This activity aims to introduce students at Sekolah Harapan Bangsa Modernhill to a Chinese tradition known as the Mid-Autumn Festival (or Mooncake Festival). It is a celebration of the harvest and family togetherness that takes place during the brightest full moon, a tradition that continues to be observed and preserved by the Chinese community to this day.
The Mid-Autumn Festival celebration began with several cheerful and spirited performances by second-grade students from Harapan Bangsa Modernhill Elementary School. The event continued with two engaging performances by fourth-grade students; they sang songs in Mandarin and presented dances characterized by energy and precision. Their joyful expressions and enthusiasm—evident in both their singing and their dance movements—made their performances truly lively and memorable.
Next, the Kindergarten B students from Modernhill presented a drama performance depicting the origins of the Mooncake Festival; the performance was simple yet deeply meaningful. It captivated the entire audience, including the elementary students from Harapan Bangsa Modernhill. The event concluded with a Mandarin song performed by the 6th-grade students of Harapan Bangsa Modernhill. Their soulful rendition touched the hearts of the guests and parents in attendance.
All the guests, parents, and students in attendance appeared to enjoy the series of songs, dances, and drama performances presented during the event. Following the conclusion of the Mooncake Festival celebration, all students from Harapan Bangsa Modernhill Kindergarten and Elementary School returned to their respective classrooms to receive mooncakes to take home and enjoy with their families.
Through this activity, all students at Sekolah Harapan Bangsa Modernhill are introduced to the Mid-Autumn Festival; the event serves as a medium for cultural learning, ensuring that the noble values embodied within the festival are remembered, preserved, and appreciated by the entire school community—particularly the students and staff of Sekolah Harapan Bangsa Modernhill.
