In the second week of October 2025, Harapan Bangsa Modernhill Elementary School held a
Language Days which was held for two days, on Wednesday, October 15 and on Thursday,
October 16, 2025. It was an activity in the framework of language month which is regularly
celebrated at Harapan Bangsa Modernhill Elementary School. The Language Day activities
were filled with various activities which related to Indonesian and Mandarin including reading
books (literacy), listening to the stories (story telling), visiting the mobile library, watching videos,
making decorations and buying interesting reading books which were sold at three different
stands.
The first day was Indonesian Language Day. On that day, all students at Harapan Bangsa
Modernhill Elementary School participated in various activities, such as listening to a story read
by a parent to first-grade students, creating illustrations, analyzing characters from storybooks in
Indonesian, and so on. On the second day, Language Day activities were conducted in
Mandarin. The students’ activities focused on performing arts such as singing and dancing. In
addition, students were asked to create posters related to Mandarin and Chinese arts and
culture.
On Friday, October 19, 2025, the activities at Harapan Bangsa Modernhill Elementary School
continued with an English Language Day with the theme “English Culture Carnival.” This activity
aimed to build students’ confidence in speaking English while introducing the cultures of
English-speaking countries through fun and interactive activities. All students in grades 1–6
attended wearing creative costumes inspired by the United States, England, and Australia
countries, and showcased their talents through singing, dancing, poetry reading, and
storytelling.
English Day activities began with various games, such as Vocabulary Bingo, Treasure Hunt, and
Hop Like a Kangaroo. Then, students of Harapan Bangsa Modernhill Elementary School were
asked to make posters and write reflection journals. Sixth grade students were assigned as the
committee members responsible for explaining each game according to the games determined
by the English Teacher Team. The entire series of Language Day activities became a fun
learning experience, fostering creativity, collaboration, and fostering a love of reading, literacy,
and using three different languages for all students in accordance with the language learning
provided at Harapan Bangsa School.
